Your goal
Muscle building
Build lean, functional muscle through periodised programming and personalised nutrition — designed by a coach with 25 years of training experience.

Why it matters
Muscle is the engine of transformation
Muscle is the foundation of every physique worth building. It drives your metabolic rate, shapes how you look in and out of clothes, improves your posture, protects your joints, and gives you functional strength that carries into every area of your life.
Even when a client comes to me primarily for fat loss, strength training and muscle development are central to their programme. You cannot build the body you want without building the muscle that defines it. Cardio alone will never get you there.
I’ve been building muscle for over 25 years, as a lifelong vegetarian. I know what works, what doesn’t, how long it takes, and how to programme for continuous adaptation without plateaus or injuries.

The approach
How I programme muscle growth
01
Periodised progressive programming
I do not write random workouts. Every training block has a clear purpose — accumulation to build volume, intensification to drive strength, deload to recover, peak to perform. Your programme evolves phase by phase.
Progressive overload is tracked and managed meticulously. Every rep, every set, every load is recorded and progressed according to plan. This is what separates structured hypertrophy programming from guesswork.
02
Nutrition for growth
Building muscle requires a specific nutritional environment. I design your eating strategy around protein timing, caloric surplus management, and micronutrient support — tailored to your dietary preferences.
As a lifelong vegetarian, I have first-hand experience building an elite physique without meat. Whether you are plant-based, omnivore, or anything in between, I build nutrition that fuels growth.
03
Recovery is programmed
Muscle grows when you recover, not when you train. I programme sleep optimisation, deload weeks, and recovery protocols as seriously as I programme your sessions.
This is where most self-guided trainees fail. They train hard but never give their body the structured recovery it needs to adapt and grow. I eliminate that mistake from day one.

Setting it straight
Myths I address
“You Need to Eat Meat”
I have built my own physique as a lifelong vegetarian. I have coached vegetarian and vegan clients to complete body recompositions. Results come from any dietary approach done properly — the science is clear on this.
“More Training = More Muscle”
Training is the stimulus. Recovery is when growth happens. I have seen countless clients overtraining and wondering why they are not growing. Structured programming with planned recovery is how you build muscle efficiently.
“You Are Too Old”
I coach clients in their 50s who are achieving the strongest, most muscular physiques of their lives. Age changes the approach — it does not eliminate the possibility. With the right programming, muscle growth is achievable at any age.
“Supplements Are Essential”
Supplements are supplementary — the clue is in the name. The foundation is always training and nutrition. I recommend evidence-based supplements where appropriate, but they are never a substitute for doing the basics properly.
The bigger picture
Beyond the mirror
The benefits of building muscle reach far beyond how you look.
A faster metabolism, around the clock
Muscle is metabolically active tissue — the more you carry, the more energy your body burns at rest. Building muscle is one of the most durable ways to manage body fat long term: you raise the floor instead of just dieting harder. Read more →
Stronger bones, lower fracture risk
Progressive resistance training is one of the most effective things you can do to maintain and build bone density — which becomes critical from your 40s on, protecting against osteoporosis and falls. Read more →
Healthier hormones and testosterone
Strength training is a powerful stimulus for testosterone and hormonal balance — affecting energy, mood, libido, and how easily you build muscle and lose fat. Read more →
Better blood-sugar control
Muscle is the body’s main site for clearing glucose from the blood. More of it means better insulin sensitivity — one of the strongest levers against type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Read more →
Strength and independence as you age
Muscle is what keeps you carrying shopping, climbing stairs and getting off the floor unaided into your 70s and beyond. Building it now is one of the best investments you’ll make in your future. Read more →
A sharper mind and steadier mood
Resistance training is consistently linked with improved cognitive function, reduced anxiety and better mental health — the benefits reach well beyond the body.

Common questions
Muscle building FAQs
Can I build muscle as a vegetarian?
Yes — I’ve done it myself for 25 years and coach it routinely. With the right protein strategy, plant-based muscle building works.
Do I need to bulk and gain fat first?
No. I don’t believe in dirty bulking. We build muscle in a controlled way — lean gains, minimal fat — so you don’t spend months “cutting” it back off afterwards.
How much protein do I actually need?
Less than the internet tells you, but enough to matter. I set a target around your bodyweight and your diet — and it’s fully achievable on a vegetarian plan.
How long until I see results?
Visible change typically comes within the first few months of consistent training and nutrition; meaningful muscle is a longer game we programme for deliberately.
Will lifting weights make me bulky?
No. Building noticeable muscle is slow and deliberate — strength training makes you leaner, stronger and better-shaped, not accidentally huge.
Do I need supplements?
No. Training and nutrition do the work. I’ll suggest a few evidence-based supplements only where they genuinely help.
I’m older — is it too late?
Not at all. I coach clients in their 50s to their best physiques. The approach adapts; the results don’t stop.
