He rewrote what his doctors thought was possible.

Type 1 diabetic and soon-to-be groom. 13kg lost in 26 weeks, on a strict vegetarian diet — and an insulin requirement his specialists couldn’t explain.

Insulin minimised

Type 1 diabetic. Soon-to-be groom. In 26 weeks he transformed his body, and left his own specialists searching for an explanation.

Where he started

Koer Singh was active, but health had never really been the point. Then came the diagnosis that changed the maths: Type 1 diabetes. He’d been managing it the way he’d been taught, a continuous glucose monitor, an insulin pump, and an “eat, then let the machine decide” mindset. It kept him going. It wasn’t making him well.

A note from your coach

What is Type 1 diabetes? It’s an autoimmune condition where the body stops producing insulin, the hormone that controls blood sugar, so it has to be managed with insulin for life. It makes fat loss and muscle gain considerably harder, because every meal and every training session has to be balanced against blood-sugar control. Achieving a transformation like this while managing it is rare, which is exactly why his specialists took notice.

— Tanvir

At 25% body fat, with his waist at 102cm and his insulin running high, Koer was a soon-to-be groom with a clear ambition: to walk into his marriage, and his Sherwani, as the strongest, healthiest version of himself. Not just for the wedding photos, but for the family he was about to start, and for a Sikh community he wanted to inspire.

What he wanted

Like a lot of men, Koer came in wanting to “get big.” In Punjabi households, big has always meant healthy. But bigger, right now, would only have meant more fat and worse health, exactly the wrong direction for someone managing Type 1 diabetes.

Tanvir was honest with him from the first call: build the wrong way and you pay for it in fat and bloodwork. So they threw out “bulk now, define later” and replaced it with one objective, get genuinely healthy, strip the fat, build real muscle underneath it, and let the physique become the by-product of better health rather than the other way round.

How we got there

Koer was in Toronto. Tanvir was in the UK. None of that mattered.

It began with a Zoom consultation. Koer shared the name of his local gym and his supermarkets, and Tanvir went to work. Using Google Maps he mapped the drive and settled on early mornings before work, because the evenings were always too busy. He studied the gym’s own website to see exactly what equipment Koer had access to, then built every session around it, fully custom, three times a week, nothing generic.

Nutrition was built the same way. As a practising Sikh, Koer eats a strict vegetarian diet, so Tanvir researched each of his local supermarkets, drew up a high-protein vegetarian shopping list, and turned it into links Koer could simply tap to have the food delivered to his door. No guesswork, no wasted time, no excuses. This is what world-class coaching actually looks like: the plan bends around the client’s life, not the other way round.

What changed

In 26 weeks, Koer lost over 13kg of fat and built visible muscle underneath it. His body fat fell from 25% to 16%. His waist came down from 102cm to 86.5cm. His bodyweight moved from 94.4kg to 81.8kg, but the scale was the least interesting part.

As his health improved, his insulin requirement collapsed. He went from blasting very high units to a baseline of bare-minimum upkeep, and his health markers came back into range, territory his doctors had never charted for him, because managing the condition had always come before optimising it.

Then came his annual check-up. His specialists, who track every data point of his insulin metrics digitally, couldn’t believe what they were seeing, and asked to review everything he’d logged.

We’d love to chat with your trainer. He’s done a phenomenal job! We rarely see anyone make this level of drastic improvement whilst managing Type 1 diabetes.

Koer’s answer was simple:

Koer Singh — back, before and after

Even his friends and family came round. Early on, used to equating size with health, some told him he looked “small.” By the end, watching him reach his final condition, they were astonished at the muscle he’d built, at how well he looked, and at health markers that were finally exactly where they should be.

What’s next

Koer stepped onto his wedding day in his Sherwani looking, and feeling, his absolute best. More importantly, he stepped into married life a man who had taken full ownership of his health, armed with skills that will last the rest of his life.

Tanvir not only reshaped my physique but my entire life, demonstrating unparalleled expertise on the Vegetarian Diet. How I wish I’d begun sooner! If you’re contemplating making a change, now’s the time.
