30% body fat. Years of yo-yo dieting behind him.

A front-line GP triaging a pandemic — with nothing left for himself.

Then he walked back into the gym.

Where he started

Born and raised in East London, Ajit is a GP — and when Covid hit, part of the front-line hospital triage team. He was thrown into the deep end like so many were: extremely long hours, extremely high-pressure situations, emotionally demanding days, all while trying to hold together family life, physical health and mental wellbeing.

He’d always had a passion for training. But the erratic, demanding nature of the job meant his own self-care had quietly slipped to the very bottom of the list. By the time the first lockdown lifted, he’d fallen off completely — years of yo-yo dieting and irregular training had caught up, and 2020 had been an emotional struggle just to hold any routine together.

It’s not uncommon to meet doctors who can’t practise good health on themselves. The job simply doesn’t leave room — they spend it all on everyone else.

I’d seen Tanvir in the gym training his other clients, and straight away I could see this guy knew what he was talking about.

What he wanted

Fitness wasn’t new to Ajit — it was inherited. It had been a key pillar of his dad’s life, and his dad passed that down to him. So the goal was never about finding motivation. It was about finding a way back that could actually survive his rota.

What he asked for was simple: the right direction, and a realistic plan he could genuinely implement around a demanding job and a young family. Not another crash diet. Not a generic template. A way back into the best shape of his life — so he’d have the energy and focus to be there for his patients, and for his family.

As a GP, you can’t put a price on health. Tanvir has been a life-changing investment.

How we got there

Everything at TR Performance Coaching starts the same way: a detailed look into the client’s actual world — routines, likes, dislikes, commitments — before a single thing is prescribed. With Ajit, that meant building the plan around the shift, not against it.

Training moved to the mornings — back to his roots. Years earlier, just before he got married, he’d switched from evening to morning workouts; in his registrar years there was physically no other time of day left, so we made that the anchor of the week. Around it sat dietary protocols he could sustain, and weekly check-ins where the plan was watched closely and adjusted off his updates.

That last part was the difference. Every week, small, knowledgeable tweaks — never a rigid programme handed over and forgotten. Structure and discipline where he needed it, flexibility where his family and his hours demanded it. And one agreement, made right at the start: trust the process.

Tanvir brings a customised package — tailor-made. Everything’s laid out for you. It’s like having a roadmap to success.

What changed

In 16 weeks, Ajit lost over 18kg. His body fat came down from 30% to 15%. His waist dropped four inches — from a 36 to a 30–32. At 35, he was back to a condition he hadn’t seen since his early twenties — and it was all done without starving, which is the part his family still can’t quite believe.

But the number that mattered most wasn’t on the scale. He had more energy, sharper focus, and a real boost in confidence — and, in his own words, he was properly there for the people who rely on him.

There’s no medication or procedure I offer my patients that gets results like this. Optimal results come from discipline and a knowledgeable trainer.

A note from your coach

Ajit did this through the hardest possible window — a pandemic, a young family, and a job that asks everything of you and gives nothing back at the end of the day. What I’ll remember is that he never wanted a quick fix. He wanted something that fit his life. That’s the whole point. The body transformation was the method. A doctor with the energy and focus to be there for his patients and his family was the result.

What’s next

This isn’t a finish line. With the weight off and the habits locked in, the focus moves to performance — strength, energy, and the kind of fitness that holds for the next decade, not just the next photo. Ajit’s own advice to anyone still deciding says it best.

If you’re even on the fence — just trust the process. The results are there.
